![]() I'm not sure if this entire scenario is a SharePoint issue or a OneNote issue or some combination of the two. This has worked, but only in Internet Explorer, and is again not an ideal solution. OneNote Online is a robust note-taking app that allows you to jot down and save ideas wherever you arefrom a scribbled-on napkin to a saved article on the weband tag notes for easy recall. I've also tried saving a notebook to SharePoint and editing the library settings to force the notebook to open in the client application (OneNote 2016). I've posted an image of scenarios I've tested below. OneNote 2016 notably supported offline file storage, while the OneNote for Windows 10 app only used OneDrive, Microsoft's cloud-based storage service, for file storage. The functionality still works for edit permissions, but is not an ideal solution. ![]() The link will bring you to OneNote Online and the option for 'Open in OneNote' is there, but not clickable. Recently, however, it appears that this functionality is no longer working for view only permission links/invites. ![]() We used to be able to share notebooks (view only or edit permissions) with no real issues, as you could click the 'Open in OneNote' or 'Edit in OneNote' link from OneNote Web and it would bring you to OneNote 2016. I'm working in a business environment where notebooks are saved to each individual's business OneDrive account, which is apparently hosted on our organization's SharePoint site. ![]()
